Opened by three former employees of Liverpool House, Nora Gray is a recently opened, but it has quickly become one of my all time favorites. The food is southern-italian and features amazing dishes such as suckling pig and braised rabbit. For me, the best thing on the menu is the cavatelli with mushroom sauce. The pasta is homemade and perfectly al dente. The mushrooms in the sauce are all different kinds with a light yet creamy sauce. It is the perfect dish.
The only nuts this restaurant has is pistachios to make ice cream. There are no peanuts or other nuts anywhere in the kitchen. Italian food is usually a safe bet for allergy sufferers. The restaurant only seats around 50 people, so be sure to make a reservation. Even though it has not been open that long, every time I have been it has been packed. The ambiance is very film-noir-esque and sleek.
